In January 2003 we will be doing things a little differently. Come January, we are looking forward to a new worship service which will focus on the needs of the growing and maturing Christian. We are hoping you will be a part of this service.
Christian Believers are invited to take part in the new Christian Life and Community ministry. A major component of this ministry is the Believers' Worship service which will be 6:30 pm on Sundays. These Believers will choose and form Small Groups to gather in for the purpose of study, prayer, ministry, and mission.
The study may be a continuation of the study begin during the Sunday evening worship service. It may be another study which the group elects to do. The covenants to pray for one another and to pray for the needs of the group. The group also serves as a basic unity of ministry, being involved in the lives of each group member through fellowship times as well as difficult times when the support of the group is needed. The group also commits to mission through some form of outreach. Perhaps the group will undertake an outreach project as a group or support one another in individual acts of outreach.
You may be thinking now of a group of people you would like to be with for this small group aspect of this ministry. We wish to encourage self-selected groups whenever possible. Later will be publicizing a list of groups with open spots that you may wish to choose to take part in.
Believers who gather in this type of community life will be ready for the next important step in this ministry: to be servants to those who gather to seek and learn during our morning gatherings. Because Believers are being fed and are worshiping together during the 6:30 service they will feel freer to serve others during the morning worship and Sunday School times.
Mebane United Methodist Church is in a position where it needs to be open to the leading of God's Holy Spirit to find His direction for our place in ministry.
Consider your place in this exciting ministry. God can do wonderful things in and through us. He is calling us to be His instruments for ministry. May we be able to respond, "Lord, here am I, send me!"
