Key Verse: Luke 17:10 “So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” NIV
Over the years, questions have arisen as to where God wants us to serve Him. In our world and in our community, we hear of so many needs. Over time, God has taught me that He will bring to individuals specific needs and give us the chance to obey or decline. The opportunities to serve may be God Himself working through others.
Our Lord demonstrated by His service how to obey and serve through His Son Jesus. He also guides us through our Lord's Words as written in Luke 17.
When we decide to participate in Christmas Cheer, feeding the homeless, or other activities of service, do we always serve out of love and faithfulness? Do we expect thanks or are we serving our Lord who has served and blessed us? If we serve from love and thankfulness, we experience more than a “good feeling” sensation, for we know a special kind of peace which comes from obeying and serving as forgiven servants.
God is so good to us and it is such a joy to serve a loving God.
Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for loving us so much that you gave your Son while we were still sinners. Thank you for giving us an example to follow. Guide us in meditating on the words of Jesus as He spoke in your Word. In Christ's Name we pray. Amen
